Spent this morning in a lecture with the BA students. It was about landscape photography. As interesting as it was, I kept thinking about what kind of photographer I am.

What kind of photographer am I?

I like making photographs no matter the subject. Landscapes or portraits, doesn't matter to me they are both fascinating. I would like more experience with still life and commercial assignments as well. Until then I will continue to try and figure out if I should follow one path or the other.

This is a collection of prints made using historical processes.

Dark room Techniques

These photographs were taken on film and then printed in a traditional darkroom. Different techniques were used such as pushing and pulling film, film destruction, and using a Holga camera.

Tattoos

Did you know that Kelly Osbourne is having some of hers removed. Though I will never get one, it is an interesting form and expression of art.

Closed

I am thinking of starting a series of portraits where peoples eyes are shut. Perhaps one shot with eyes open, with another shot where the eyes are closed.

Just finished editing/touching up the photos from this wedding. I am so glad that my computer is working again. There are more to come.

Mother Nature Taking Over _ 2

Even before we as people abandon a place its decay has already begun. We just don't see or notice it taking place. Once we have left then things can uninhibited.

This is photo one of a series I am starting. I am calling it mother nature taking over. We were at an old fort in Oregon when I decided to start the series. I noticed a number of years ago while mountain biking that mother nature actually takes back over where we as humans have been when we finally give up and move on.

Some of the trails that I used to bike were disappearing where people stopped using them. I found it sad because that means less people are out enjoying some beautiful places. At the same time it is good because it shows that there was less abuse of the land. I have been thinking about it ever since then.

Had two photo shoots tonight! These three sisters were great to work with. Girls are generally more interested in smiling for the camera than boys are. I had a lot of fun doing this families portraits tonight.

Our son rarely sleeps all night without waking up. Sometimes he comes and climbs in between us without making a sound. We just wake up and there he is. Then he wants to sleep in. At least he is sleeping.

Richard & Megan

Found a break in the weather last week to do some engagement shots. Here is a preview from the session. Richard and Megan were a lot of fun to photograph. I am glad that no trains came by while we were out on the tracks.

On Track

Working on some engagement photos that I did the other night. Had the thought of 'How do you know your life is on the right track?' You'll know if you are with the one you love and going the same direction.

Evie in the Evening

I wish I was carefree enough to run around in the evening after dinner with food on my face. Fact is sometimes I do without knowing it.

Treasure

I treasure bikes. This makes me think of when I was a kid. It reminds me of all the times that my play got cut short. I would be out having a great time and would have to stop playing to come in and go to bed. I hated it. I still hate it.

A Baby Boy

Our friends had us take some photos of their son born just 2 weeks ago. He is going to be a big boy. He was adorable! Their daughter is equally adorable. Alex and Evie will miss playing with her as they have graduated and are moving away.
