What Really Lurks inside of some People

This is not my normal type of picture making. I would normally stop after getting the first shot where the subject looks good and happyish. Not this time though. Instead we dumped a bunch of water on her and kept shooting until what lurks beneath that serene expression came out to haunt the night. My wife had nightmares after this photo shoot.

The Cherry!

The assignment for these pictures was 'Color Contrast'. So with it being winter and not wanting to do another outdoor shot I took the family down to Walmart to buy some cheap make up. Then we headed over to a local grocery store and bought a piece of green poster board and some marchino cherries.

While Kate was doing her own makeup I was setting up and doing test shots using a teddy bear. When she came down we spent some time shooting pictures and getting the assignment completed. I am quite happy about what I created!

Where the heck have I been?

Busy. Really, really busy! So I am sorry to those of you have been looking for new stuff here and haven't had it.

I am back in school right now. Attending BYU-I in Rexburg, Idaho. It is a great school with some awesome instructors. This semester I am enrolled in a color photo course. It is deffinitely stretching me because it is winter, cold and did I mention winter.

Well, I am going to blog some of my recent assignments starting with our intro assignment, which was just basically to go take some pictures (Good Pictures) of course. The two pictures above are what I submitted. The truth is that kids don't always smile and most people are afraid of that. I can honestly say that I don't mind, because I understand that they are trying to say something and usually adults just don't take the time to understand. We should take the time. I find that my kids either want food, something to drink, to be apart of what I am doing, playing, or sleeping. I love my kids and I am glad that we are learning to understand one another.
There is a scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants section 130 verses 18 -19 that reads: "18-Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection. 19-And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come." That is the reason I am living in England and attending the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham. I am working on a MFA in Photography in order to further my secular intelligence. Additionally I am learning more than I ever thought I would about having faith in God and where he leads us in life. I graduated from Brigham Young University Idaho with a degree in Recreation Management and a minor in Photography. If I am not photographing, then you can find me running, mountain biking, or spending time with my family.
